BMX is an extreme sport that takes the tricks and style of skateboarding and merges it with cycling. At first, BMX used to be purely a racing sport, inspired by motocross and consisting of cycling at breakneck speeds along dirt courses with obstacles such as hills and sharp turns in each rider's way. Some of the riders began to get fancy going over the hills, doing flips or letting go of the bike as they went high up in the air, and thus was freestyle BMX born. Now, freestyle BMX is by far the more popular of the two, having a large following of enthusiasts and practitioners.
