Computers play a huge role in our modern life and culture, performing tasks as useful and varied as running simple and amusing games to calculating complex problems involving difficult numbers and variables.

Originally, computers were massive affairs, taking up most of a large room, but as technology progressed and with the introduction of transistors to replace the old vacuum tubes and with the invention of integrated circuits computers became smaller and much cheaper to produce. As mentioned before, computers perform a whole plethora of tasks in our modern world. Computers are used extensively in professional applications, such as constructing 3-D engineering models, graphic designing, rendering complex simulations and models involving large numbers of variables, handling and organizing communications, etc. Computers have also found a place in the workings of people's lives, being a medium (via the Internet) of communication and a popular source of recreation with the many computer games that have been produced.

Computers range in performing capacity and features with a corresponding range in price. Since computer technology is constantly growing and changing, simply buying the "newest and hottest" computer on the market may not be advisable compared to browsing among online computer shops and local computer shops for a computer suitable to your needs. But, whatever your needs may be, computer shops and their staff are available and able to help with any and all of a shopper's computer needs.
