Craft Shop - Art, Supply, Scrapbook, Paper - Online
Technically speaking, a craft is a skill involving practical arts; so when people speak of arts and crafts, they are referring to activities skillfully done by hand in which something new is created from bits of other rubbish. Every child has fond memories of fingerpainting in kindergarten and painstakingly constructing a bird house with popsicle sticks. For the more rare child maverick, eggshell castles and toothpick spears were the favored craft activity. Avid adult craft hobbyists will tell you that they learned at an early age that googly eyes enliven any craft model or portrait!
A craft shop is often considered the ultimate art and craft haven, harbouring every art supply: scrapbook, paper, paint, clay, brushes... the heavenly pinacle of craft supplies is a craft shop. Some online art supply and craft shop may even have scrapbook paper online (where one can virtually paint in a virtual scrapbook). But thus far "craft shop" has included only the general arts and crafts sphere practiced in community centers and daycares and for fun. The term crafts also includes trade skills divided into four main categories.
- Textile crafts encompass such activities as crocheting, embroidery, macrame, needlepoint, rug-making, tapestry, weaving, and other yarn and needle crafts. A craft shop that specializes in manufacturing textile oriented supplies abound on the internet.
- Wood, metal or clay crafts include activities like metal working, pottery, sculpture, woodworking, and jewelery making.
- Paper or canvas crafts include calligraphy, scrapbooking, origami, collage, and bookbinding, not to mention many others as well.
- Crafts involving plants include basket weaving and pressed flower crafts, both of which produce lovely gifts and home ornamentation.
Shop online or visit your local craft shop to replenish your art supply of super glue, pipe cleaners, scrapbook paper, and ribbon. You may also want to pick up a book on tie dye techniques for your teenage daughter or embossing ink for that bossy craft fiend of an aunt. Whatever your craft, craft shops will allow you to express yourself and be unforgivably creative. If you get good enough, you may even be able to make a living at craft fairs.
